McLaren GT Global Test Drive

The Brief

The global launch and test drive of the McLaren GT took place over 14 days at the start of September 2019 at the stunning Le Beauvallonlocated on the scenic Mediterranean coast in the south of France.

Noble Events was responsible for the whole event, including accommodation, a vehicle exhibition zone, technical vehicle support area, guest management, onsite co-ordination, and bespoke catering, including a welcome dinner for the six waves of 35 media guests and influencers from across the globe.

As a starting point, Noble Events was briefed to find the highest quality and most exquisite location in Europe, encompassing spectacular road routes that would suit the GT’s driving dynamics and a ‘stunning venue befitting the brand’.

Location & Venue

The venue was chosen for its incredible facilities, geography in the Côte d’Azur and the privacy for the client – we took the belle epoque private house on an exclusive basis. This meant Noble Events had the ability to create a private ‘House party’ for the client. Moreover, the exhilarating and challenging roads surrounding the area allowed for the perfect test of the new GT.

As a location, Saint-Tropez suited the client and brand brilliantly. It felt like the perfect backdrop for a press launch. Additionally, it catered logistically for the significant volume of important guests travelling to the event site.

Schedule

On the first day of each wave, guests arrived at the venue via our organised private travel arrangements, before receiving a welcome presentation. After settling into their accommodation in the house, they were invited to join senior McLaren executives for the official welcome dinner. The local French cuisine was superb, with menus updated daily by the in-house chef to ensure guests experienced the freshest ingredients served in a buffet style for maximum flexibility.

Day Two consisted of a morning drive to experience the vehicle at first hand, with local coffee stops and a leisurely lunch at a golf resort. In the afternoon, guests drove back to Le Beauvallon to regroup before making their farewells and departing.

For those catching morning flights the following day, Noble Events organised an informal second night dinner in Nice at a restaurant overlooking the fantastic shoreline.

Verdict

The client was thrilled with the event. Both the management of the vehicles and care of the guests were cited as especially exceptional.

Guests were thoroughly impressed by the venue and grateful for the stress-free transport management, feeling looked after from the minute they set off.

Senior Event Manager, Katie Stephens, said “it was great to be part of the team on this prestigious event. We delivered a flawless, high-end event, working very long hours to ensure that every journalists’ needs were met. We were incredibly proud of the end result and look forward to working with McLaren again in the future.”
